It has been four years of peace since the Leviathan incident. How could we have known that Omega Station’s SHAMAN, the same artificial intelligence that predicted the last invasion and saved countless lives, would be the instigator of a new demonic threat? It appears that years of monitoring the vast reaches of the infernal dimension has taken a toll on SHAMAN’s psychology, and the hellspawn have taken this advantage to plant a seed of hatred in the A.I.’s conscience. With an army of Hellspawn cloned from the DNA of prior wars, and orders from its new master code-named “Ragnarok”, the sentient machine will stop at nothing to open a gateway to hell and damn Earth. Can you destroy SHAMAN in time? Or will you have no choice but to enter hell once again?
MAP20 “Interstellar Sickness” and MAP21 “Shaman’s Device” are a couple of the largest and most ambitious maps I made. Interstellar Sickness draws inspiration from Fredrick Johannson’s Vrack series and Huy Pham’s “Stargate” map, while “Shaman’s Device” draws from Dark Forces, mad raves, and SNES-era sidescrollers. Also made a bunch of new graphics for the maps, though you mostly run into that in “Shaman’s Device”.
Dumb fact: These two maps were originally one, but it broke Boom’s limits. Since the second area was pretty thematically different anyway, it made sense to split it into two.
